Capturing Magic Moments

A review of the Venus Optics Argus 18mm f/0.95 MFT APO lens

1 min read

Venus Optics has established itself as a maker of unique lenses that often push the boundaries of design, and the new Argus 18mm f/0.95 MFT APO continues that trend by bringing Micro Four Thirds photographers a versatile focal length paired with an extremely large maximum aperture. This great video review takes a look at the lens and the performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.

This great video review by Peter Forsgård takes a look at the Venus Optics Argus 18mm f/0.95 MFT APO lens. At $449, the Argus 18mm f/0.95 is quite affordable while still offering a number of useful features. These include 14 elements in 8 groups (including two extra-low dispersion elements), APO design for reduced chromatic aberrations, 9 aperture blades for softer bokeh, and reduced focus breathing for video work. Although the lens has manual focus, this isn’t as much of an impediment as it used to be, as most modern cameras offer fairly robust and straightforward manual focus capabilities. Unless you’re shooting fast-paced action, this isn’t usually a big problem. Watch the video above for Forsgård’s full thoughts on the lens.
